Mr. Jessie Palmer Swearingen, Age 83 passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the home of his niece in Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia, after a long hard fought battle with cancer.. Mr. Swearingen was born April 12, 1931, in Clinch County GA to the late Cuyler H. Swearingen and Josie Young Swearingen. A native of Clinch County, Georgia, Mr. Swearingen was a life long resident of Duval County, Florida. He worked for the City of Jacksonville (Jacksonville University Landscape Department) where he retired after 30 years. He was also an avid gardener and studied horticulture and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Swearingen, Robert Swearingen, Walter Swearingen, and C.H. Swearingen. Survivors are two sisters, Laverne Jacobs of Nahunta, GA and Retha Petrausky of Monticello, FL, two special nieces that were his caregivers Phyllis & Miranda May of Brunswick, GA, and several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Graveside services for Mr. Swearingen will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:o’clock in the Boney Bluff Cemetery, Fargo, GA. Officiating will be Reverend Bruce Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Dr. Abdelmalik and the staff of Heartland Hospice. Condolences to the family may be conveyed at the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
