Homerville, GA Police Chief Marcus “Mark” Allen Register, 58, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer. Chief Register was born July 5, 1956, in Folkston, GA, to the late Felton Chester Register and Anna Wood Register. He was Chief of the Homerville Police Department since January 2002, member of the Georgia Police Chief’s Association and the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Buford E. Taylor. Survivors are his wife: Carol Taylor Register, Homerville; one son: Ryan Allen Register, Homerville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Perry & Kay Register, Woodbine, GA and Billy & Linda Register, Duluth, GA; one grandchild; Aubrey Smith, Homerville; his mother-in-law: Ann Taylor, Cottondale, FL; sister-in-law: Debra Hayes, Albany, GA; brother-in-law: Bill Taylor, Utah; seven nieces and nephews: Lara McNeir, Angela Register, Jason Register, Karrie Register, Garret Reed, Dylan Reed and Taylor Hayes; and several other relatives. Funeral services for Chief Register will be held, Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at two o’clock in the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Interment will be in the North Cemetery, DuPont, GA. The family will receive friends, Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Chief Register will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
