Robert "Bobby" Derrell Jewell

October 14, 1956 — November 3, 2014

Bobby Jewell, 58, of Homerville, left this life peacefully on November 3, 2014, surrounded by his family. He is now in the embrace of the Lord's saving grace and those precious family members who went before him. Echoes of his laughter will live on and on. Bobby was born the third son of Billy and Doris Davis Jewell, October 14, 1956. Raised in Willacoochee, he graduated Atkinson County High School in 1974. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton and studied Forestry from 1974-1976. Bobby married the love of his life Robbin Steedley and the two made Clinch County their home, where their long lasting devotion to each other flourished for 25 years before his passing. His father Billy, mother Doris, eldest brother Bill Jr., and stepmother, Loleta, preceded him in passing. His loving family members remaining, his wife, 'Roo' Robbin Steedley-Jewell; four brothers, Danny Jewell of Jacksonville, Michael Jewell (Brenda) of Enigma, John Jewell (Tonya) of Patterson and Allen Jewell(Kimberly) of Nichols; three sisters, Shannon Jewell-Taft (Kenneth) of Manor, Tammy Jewell-Walker (Robert) of Valdosta and Alice Jewell-Hamilton (Bing) of Pearson; three stepsisters, Diane Browning-Vining (Terry)of Pearson, Debra Browning-Burch (Ronnie) of Nichols and Donna Browning-Day (Jamie) of Brunswick. Bobby was especially fond of his precious aunt, La Trell Rogers, and his lifelong buddy-cousin, Lee Mock, both of Alapaha. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life honoring his wishes of the release of his ashes into the Alapaha River in Willacoochee. Before passing, Bobby hoped that those who knew and loved him would honor his memory by donating a bag of groceries to a struggling family. In his life, he often lamented the fact that 1 in every 3 children across every city and town in America are hungry. Play it forward was his wish where no child has to go hungry. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except thru Me" John 14:6 Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at: www.roundtreefuneralhome.net Roundtree Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
