Mr. Richard Henry Bateson, Sr., 85, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, Homerville, Georgia, following an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bateson was born June 7, 1929 in Mt. Hope, NJ, to the late Richard Bateson and Anna Sickles Bateson. He was a lifetime member of the Homerville VFW and a member of the Homerville United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S.Army, serving during the Korean War. Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Marion Keyser Bateson, Homerville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard H. & Pam Bateson and Leslie F. & Belinda Bateson, all of Homerville, Georgia; four grandchildren: Mandy & Eric Thomas, Homerville, Apryl & Jonathan Roundtree, Waycross, Lisha Bateson, St. Mary’s GA and Leslie & Samantha Bateson, Dublin, GA; five great grandchildren: Alyssa Roundtree, Brack Thomas, DeLainey Thomas, Clara Grace Roundtree, Bristol Thomas, special great granddaughter, Annie Caroline Dixon; one sister: Clara Moore, New Jersey; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert & Lois Bateson, Mt. Hope, NJ; Carolyn Burtchaell, Homerville; a number of nieces, nephews and several other relatives. Graveside services for Mr. Bateson will be held, Monday, October 20, 2014, at eleven o’clock in the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home Condolences to the family may be conveyed at the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
