Homerville, GA Mrs. Floriene Ruth VanGorden Calley, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 09, 2008, from the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Calley was born January 4, 1920, in Flat Rock, Indiana, to the late Alden VanGorden & Florence Ruth Garrison VanGorden. She was a homemaker, a member of New Vision Church of God, a Sunday School Teacher for many years, and a Senior Citizens Center member. Mrs. Calley was preceded by her husband: William Emory Calley, Sr.; two sons: Richard A. Calley & Gregory Calley; and a brother: Auther "Buster" VanGorden. Survivors are one son & daughter-in-law: William E. “Billy” & Quida Calley; of Homerville; one daughter-in-law: Sharon Calley, of Homerville; two sisters Betty Brody, of Ridge Manor, FL, & Polly Ann Fowler, of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren: William & Kim Calley, Brian Calley, Gina & Dewayne Stalvey, Michelle Godfrey, Mary Ruth Handley, Gregory Calley, & Kristy Corbitt; nine great-grandchildren: Ryder Godfrey, Chance Cooper, Trinity Cooper, Zachery Handley, Breanna Handley, Blakely Calley, Dustin Stalvey, Jennifer Stalvey, & Lexie Calley; one great-great-grandchildren: Rayce Godfrey; a special niece: Barbara Ann Wollitz; two special friends: Dorothy Gray & Beatrice Landrum; and several other relatives. Services for Mrs. Calley will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008, at eleven o’clock from the New Vision Church of God. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 till 9 at the funeral home. Mrs. Calley will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
