DuPont, GA Mr. George “Bobby” Blankenship, 73, passed away, Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Langdale Hospice House, Valdosta, GA, following a short illness. Mr. Blankenship was born Sept. 8, 1940 in Tift County, GA to the late Thomas Blankenship and Nancy Earleen Akridge Blankenship. He retired from the City of Homerville Police Department, and was a security guard at B-Way. He attended the Homerville Free Will Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Survivors are his wife: Dorothy Landrum Blankenship. DuPont; two daughters and son-in-law: Felicia & Tommy Bennett, Homerville and Nancy Blankenship Pittman, DuPont; one son and daughter-in-law: Branion & Sherry Blankenship, Homerville; ten grandchildren: Josh Bennett, Cody Blankenship, Mandi Curtis, Krysta Smith, Jeremy Murray, Trey Feagle, Trenton Pittman, Bobby Thomas Pittman, Chelsea Pittman and Kelsea Pittman; four great grandchildren: Sawyer Bennett, Finn Bennett, Jaxon Blankenship and Brailee Pittman and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Blankenship will be held Monday, July 21, 2014 at two o’clock in the Homerville Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Tift Memorial Gardens, Tifton, GA.
