Homerville, GA Mr. Jerry Levon “Pee Wee’ Day, 62, passed away, Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his loving and caring family, following an extended illness. Mr. Day was born July 21, 1951 in Hartford, AL to Retha Mae Boyett Day and the late Horace Day. His career as a truck driver began at a young age. He worked for several years as a self-employed truck driver hauling fence post and worked another 20 years driving for B & M Wood Products. He ended his 35 year career and love of trucking with Wal-Mart Distribution Center haven driven nearly two million miles without a single accident. He was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robbie Day and one brother-in-law: Earl Stalvey. Survivors other than his mother, are his wife: Mary Johnson Day, Homerville; three daughters and sons-in-law: Cindy & Jason Sirmans, Jerri Lynn & Wade Spivey and Amy & Leonard Wheeler all of Homerville; three sisters and brother-in-law: Brenda & Eddie Griffis, Jean Stalvey and Betty Day, all of Homerville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray & Eldoris Day, Homerville and Larry & Elaine Day, Darien, GA; one sister-in-law: Maria Palmer, Homerville; seven grandchildren: Daniel Spivey, Daylynn Spivey, Shelby Sirmans, Austin Sirmans, Maebry Wheeler, Analee Wheeler and Hannah Wheeler and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Day will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at two o’clock in the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery.
