Jane Hattaway Tomlinson

Homerville, GA Mrs. Sybil Jane Hattaway Tomlinson, 87, passed away, Monday, June 9, 2014, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Tomlinson was born August 19, 1926 in Waycross, GA to the late Emory Floyd Hattaway and Maybel Mosley Hattaway. She retired from the City of Homerville as the City Clerk in 1989, and was a member of the Homerville First Baptist Church, where she had served as Chairperson of the Social Committee and sang in the choir. She was a past member of the Exchange Club and loved being outside working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Tomlinson, Sr., two brothers: Emory Floyd Hattaway, Jr., and Billy Hattaway; two sisters: Isabelle Keaton and Florine Harrison. Survivors are one daughter: Janice Tomlinson Griffis, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law: Ray & Betty Tomlinson, Jr., Sana Rosa Shore, FL; one brother and sister-in-law: M. D. “Dewitt” & Mary Ellen Hattaway, Waycross, GA; three grandchildren: Jonathon & Julie Tomlinson, Covington, LA, Kayla Griffis, Homerville and Matt & Marlie Swensen, Labelle, FL; seven great grandchildren: Olivia Tomlinson, Isabella Tomlinson, Aubre Jane Tomlinson, Braxtyn Smith, Aliyah Smith, Matthew Swensen and Marci Swensen and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Tomlinson will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at two o’clock in the Homerville First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Arabia Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 till 8 p.m. and at the home of Kayla Griffis, 195 Old Pearson Road, Homerville, GA 31634. Mrs. Tomlinson will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
