Homerville, GA Mr. Russell Henry Mathers, 50, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, from a brief illness. Mr. Mathers was born September, 27, 1957, in Hawthorne, California, to the late Charles E. Mathers and Lillian Mathers. He was a construction worker, member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God, the Sky Warn Group and was a street evangelist, who loved to witness to people. Survivors are his wife: Kathy Carroll Mathers, Homerville; five daughters: Sadie M. Zimmerman, Kelso, WA, Heather M. Vassar, Longview, WA, Faith Morrell, Sheila Mathers and Destinee Mathers, all of Homerville; his mother-in-law, whom he loved like a mother; Vera Nelson, Vancouver WA; nine grandchildren and several other relatives. Services for Mr. Mathers will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 at two o’clock from the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Interment will be in the Fargo Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Mathers will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 till 9 p.m. Mr. Mathers will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
