Mary Ruth Holmes Hunter

Callahan, FL Mrs. Mary Ruth Holmes Hunter, 81, passed away, Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in the Baptist Hospital, Jacksonville, FL, following a brief illness. Mrs. Hunter was born April 5, 1933 in Homerville, GA to the late Jack Holmes and Mae Ola Griffin Holmes. She worked for Winn Dixie and was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence James Hunter, Sr.; one son: Lawrence James Hunter, Jr.; two sisters: Jackie Bennett and Clara Bell Pittman; and two brothers: David Earl Holmes and Johnny Lee Holmes. Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law: Lisa H. & Dale E. Wingo, Callahan, FL; three sisters: Sara Faye Burkett, Surrency, GA, Betty Jean Bennett, Jacksonville, FL, Martha Ann Booth, Manor; three grandchildren: Priscilla Boyette, Clinton Boyette, Preston Wingo all of Callahan; two great grandchildren: America Canterbury and Mae-Ahna Canterbury; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Hunter will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at two o’clock in the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery.
