James Charles Barnes, Sr.

Homerville, GA Mr. James Charles Barnes, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his residence, following an extended illness. Mr. Barnes was born July 7, 1921, in Rochelle, GA, to the late Charles Barnes & Emily Herndon Barnes. He had 45 years of service with the Federal Civilian Service as an Aircraft Mechanic at the Moody Air Force Base. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife: Katherine Edna Harper Barnes. Survivors are two daughters & sons-in-law: Sharleen & Larry Breshears, of Gibsonville, FL, and Kathy & Joseph Barrett, of Gulf Breeze, FL; two sons & Daughters-in-law: Charles & Pat Barnes, of Columbus, GA, and Barry & Sherry Barnes, of Manor, GA; six grandchildren: Stephanie Huff & Julie Breshears, of Spokan, WA, Lee & Bruce Wilpon, of Austin, TX, Paul & Sabine Barrett, of Gulf Breeze, FL, & Ashley Barnes & Cody Barnes, of Manor, GA; One great-grandchild: Zoe Wilpon, of Austin, TX; & several other relatives. Services for Mr. Barnes will be held Monday, May 19,2008, at ten o’clock, from the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 7 til 9 pm, at the Roundtree Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations to Grace Hospice, LLC, 101 Northside Drive Bldg E, Valdosta, GA 31602. Roundtree Funeral Home is serving the Barnes family.
