Homerville, GA Mr. James Harley Bennett, 76, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Clinch Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. Mr. Bennett was born May 22, 1931, in Clinch County, to the late Isham Clifford Bennett & Gladys Thornton Bennett. He was the owner of Bennett’s Super Market until his retirement1989, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, and Lake Vernon Hunting & Fishing Club. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Mr. Bennett was preceded by one brother: Clifford Bennett. Survivors are his wife: Betty Hughes Bennett, of Homerville; two daughters & sons-in-law: Anne & Greg Britt, of Warner Robbins, Ga, & Lisa & Tim Forshee, of Tifton, Ga; one son & daughter-in-law: Jimmy & Vanessa Bennett, of Homerville; one brother & sister-in-law: Kenneth W. & Phyllis Bennett, of Homerville; seven grandchildren: Brian & Crystal Bennett, Melody Gillis, & Ben Gillis, all of Homerville, Cole Britt, Garrett Britt, & Kristin Britt, all of Warner Robins, Ga, and Lindsey & Zach Forshee, of Tifton, Ga; three great-grandchildren: Weston Bennett, of Homerville, Mary Britt, of Warner Robins, Ga, & Hunter Gillis, of Homerville; & several other relatives. Services for Mr. Bennett will be held Friday, March 21, 2008, at three o’clock from the First Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Talmadge Guess, Rev. Ken Jones, & Rev. Dave Ungar. Internment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Roundtree Funeral Home, Thursday evening, from 7 til 9 pm.
