Homerville, GA Master Sergeant Joseph “Joey” Eugene Turner, 48, passed away Friday, February 22, 2008 in the Macon Medical Center, Macon, GA. MSgt. Turner was born Oct. 7, 1959 in Clinch County to Lillian Gunter Turner, Homerville and the late Wallace Eugene Turner. He was the manager of Carswell Motor Supply, NAPA Store, is a twenty two year veteran of the United States Marine Corp Reserve and a volunteer fireman with the Homerville/Clinch County Fire Department. Survivors other than his mother are his wife; Suzanne Corbitt Turner, Homerville: one son and daughter-in-law: Jeb & Janie Turner, Homerville: one step daughter; Crystal Allen, Homerville: one step son: Matt Allen, Homerville; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Judy & Brent Hoopiiaina, and Polly & Chuck Reddick, all of Homerville; one brother: Wallace “Wally” Turner, Homerville; eight grandchildren: Lexie Edenfield, MacKenzie Turner, Matthew Allen, Jr., Gracie Allen, Andrew Allen, Robert Lee, Bryce Lee and Hunter Gillis and several other relatives. Services for MSgt. Turner will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at two o’clock from the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Victory Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors, fireman honors and Masonic Rites. MSgt. Turner will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 till 9. MSgt. Turner will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
