Mr. William Rhoda “W. R.” Stalvey, 90, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Stalvey was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Homerville, GA, to the late William B. Stalvey and Alice Griffis Stalvey. He was a retired owner of Stalvey Electric, a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, a Shriner and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Erma Register Stalvey and his second wife: Alma Lee Strickland Stalvey; two brothers: Marvin Stalvey and D. T. Stalvey. Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law: Betty Sue & Dr. Francis Coleman, Homerville, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law: Steve & Mary Stalvey, Sr., Savannah, GA and Randell W. & Judy Stalvey, Sr., Jacksonville, NC; two sisters: Iona Smith, Homerville and Verna Lee Futch, Lake City, FL; nine grandchildren: Alicia Tolle, Leonard Wheeler, Randy Stalvey, Jr., Jake Stalvey, Juliana Stalvey, Justin Stalvey, Steve Stalvey, Jr., Gina Carmichael, Stephanie Stalvey; sixteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and several other relatives. Services for Mr. Stalvey will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at eleven o’clock from the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Roundtree Funeral Home. Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.
