Homerville, GA Mr. R. B. Pittman, 79, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following a extended illness. Mr. Pittman was born, May 25, 1933 in Homerville, GA, to the late Field D. Clifton Pittman & Mary Emma Aline Griffis Pittman. He was a retired truck driver for Delk Post Company, a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and attended the Fruitland Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Edith Rebecca Jordan Pittman, who passed away on Feb. 8, 2012, one brother, H.C. Pittman and one sister, Jeanette Booth. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing in the Suwannee River and most of all spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law: Susan & Jimmy Smith; one son and daughter-in-law: Neil & Debbie Pittman, all of Homerville, GA; six grandchildren: Blake & Kristen Pittman, Kyle & Tori Pittman, Erin Pittman, Greer & Stephanie Smith, Megan & Dustin O’Neal, and Ali Smith & Brent Coleman, nine great grandchildren: Lily-Ana Pittman, Jonah Pittman, Braydee Pittman, Tucker Pittman, Jacob Pittman, Kellan Smith, Raife O’Neal, Gavin Coleman and Garrison Coleman; two sisters: Fannie Prysock, Jonesboro, GA and Mina Mae Young, Homerville; a special friend and fishing buddy and his wife; Hubert & Bronna Hendrix and several other relatives. Services for Mr. Pittman will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at three o’clock from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Pittman will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
