Homerville, GA Mrs. Amy Adams Hawkins, 68, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. Mrs. Hawkins was born, July 6, 1939 to Mrs. Finea Simpson, of Bainbridge, GA and the late Mr. D. J. Adams. She has lived in Homerville for the last several years. She was a retired housekeeper for different motels and was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Mary Louise Hawkins and one son: Curtis Author Hawkins. Survivors other than her mother are three daughters: Geneva Gurnell, Brunswick, GA, Jimmie Sue Cothern, Rome, GA, and Wanda Swearingen, Homerville, GA; three sons: Leroy Hawkins, Homerville, GA, William Hawkins, Jr., Cartersville, GA and George Dale Hawkins, Rome, GA; two sisters: Betty Edmonson, Americus, GA and Mary Alice Smith, Thomasville, GA; four brothers: Harold Adams, Jerry Paul Adams and James Franklin Adams all of Bainbridge, GA and Robert Hancock, Lumber City, GA; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and several other relatives. Services for Mrs. Hawkins will be held Sunday, January 20, 2008 at three o’clock from the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Interment will be in the Lang Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins will remain at the funeral home until time for the services. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
