Lyneath Musgrove Tye Orr of St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Lyneath and Downing Musgrove. She graduated from Clinch Country High School and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri where she earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising. She attended the University of Georgia earning a Bachelors degree in Secondary Business Education. While at the University of Georgia, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. After college, she married James Pearce Tye of Albany, Georgia. The two lived in Homerville, Georgia for twenty years where she taught school. As a very popular and involved member of the community, she served as Homerville’s first alderman. She was known for her vivaciousness and boundless energy when it came to community service projects. Having been born into a family with a deep legacy in the Clinch County area, she made it a priority to promote the town she loved and in making it a better place in which to live. Living on St. Simons Island for the past 15 years, she continued to make a contribution to her community leaving a long-lasting impression. She was on the Board of Directors for The Hospice of the Golden Isles, a member of the St. Simons Presbyterian Church, where she has been an elder, a Stephen Minister, and a member of the Lunch Bunch Circle. She was in Leadership Glynn, a member of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, and served on the Brunswick Town Committee for Colonial Dames. She was very active in the Golden Isles Alpha Delta Pi Alumni Society. Following her move to the area, she began as a Realtor for Golden Isles Realty where she worked until her death. She was an avid tennis and bridge player, but her greatest pleasure was her involvement in the lives of her grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her parents; husband Pearce Tye and grandson Thomas Waller. She is survived by her husband Jimmy Orr of St. Simons Island as well as her children Lisa Tye Waller (Kenneth) of Griffin, Georgia; Pearce Tye (Caroline) of Ashville, North Carolina; and Patrick Tye (Kathy) of St. Simons Island. She leaves behind eight grandchildren Lindsey Waller (Augusta, Ga), Tye Waller (Griffin, Ga), McKay Tye (Highpoint, NC), Harrison Tye (Asheville, NC), Carrie Tye (Asheville, NC), Grace Tye, Pearce Tye and Hudson Tye all of St. Simons Island. Other survivors include her sisters Alice Marie Musgrove Burnet of St. Simons Island and Julie Musgrove Barber (Fred) of Blackshear, Georgia as well as her nieces and nephews Julie McLaurine, Heyward Burnet IV, Fred Barber, Downing Barber and Heidi Barber. Extended family members include Julie Orr Hoover (daughter Caroline) and Jay Orr (Debbie and son Griffin). The funeral will take place on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 5:00 pm at St. Simons Presbyterian Church on Kings Way, St. Simons Island. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be at 2:00 pm in Pine Forest Cemetery in Homerville on Friday, September 28. Visitation will take place12:30-1:30 pm at First Baptist Church in Homerville.
