Homerville, GA Mrs. Lola Mae Sweat Steedley, 101, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. Mrs. Steedley was born Nov. 17, 1910, in Beach, Georgia, in Bacon County, to the late Alfred Quarterman Sweat and Nora Virginia Stewart Sweat. She was a homemaker and retired owner/operator of The Log Kitchen with her late husband, Joe Steedley. She was a member of the Homerville United Methodist Church, The Eastern Star and the United Methodist Women’s Society. Survivors are three daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Jo Griffis, Martha Jon & Darrell Wetherington and Jennebeth & Freddie James, all of Homerville, GA and Carolyn Cowart Shiver, Akin, SC whom they reared; one sister: Jo Earl Ellis, Alma, GA; two sisters-in-law: Louise Steedley, Marion, OH and Minnie Jo Sweat, Alma, GA, five grandchildren: Dawn & Howard Slocumb, DuPont, Paige & Dan Register, Jacksonville, FL, Will McClaine, Amy & Johnny Morgan, and Molly McClaine, all of Homerville; three great grandchildren: Trent Register, Blaire Register, both of Jacksonville, FL and Hailee Morgan, Homerville; two special nieces: Janice & Elroy Douglas and Iris Smith, all of Homerville and several other relatives. Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Steedley will be held Friday, July 20, 2012, at eleven o’clock from the Homerville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery.
