Homerville, GA Mr. Charles Edward “Buddy” Smith, 61, passed away Wednesday, Mar. 7, 2012, in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, following a short illness. Mr. Smith was born July 1, 1950, in Homerville, GA to the late William Henry Smith and Ethel Richardson Sumner. He was retired from Jefferson Smruffet/CCA as a truck driver, was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict and attended the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law: Miranda & Charles Odom, Homerville, two grandchildren: Jayee and Caleb Odom, Homerville; step-mother & father: Shirley & James Finley, Ocoee, FL; seven sisters and brothers-in-law: Margaret & Lavern Miller, Martha & Danny Issac, Teresa Smith, Lavada Smith & Edward “Gabby” Pitts, Jr., all of Homerville, Lori & Randy Reeves, Ocilla, GA, Marsha & Joe Coffman, and Melanie Finley, both of Orlando, FL.; three brothers: Jeffery Smith, Jacksonville, FL, Eugene Fussell, Portland Oregon and Jimmy Finley, Orlando, FL; special friends: Denise Henderson, James “Jimmy” Nipper, Nass Hendley and Cecil & Gail Vest, all of Homerville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services for Mr. Smith will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, at eleven o’clock from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Internment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, Mar. 9, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Roundtree Funeral Home. Mr. Smith will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
