Homerville, GA Mr. Peter Aaron Young, 92, of Homerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Clinch Memorial Hospital. Mr. Young was a lifelong resident of Clinch County, having grown up in the Colon/Headlight area. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was assigned to the USS Bray; a convoy ship that escorted destroyer and supply ships across the Northern Atlantic. Mr. Young worked in the lumber and timber business the majority of his life. He also worked for the County Maintenance Department and the Homerville Police Department. He was a member of the Homerville First Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion Young and Artiemish Wheeler Young; one sister: Marie Harris; four brothers: Raymond Young, Oscar Young, Harry Young and Dan Young. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Lounette and Hoke Herrin, Linda and Buddy Hallford, all of Homerville, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law: Danny and Lisa Young, Fitzgerald, Georgia; his wife: Mina Mae Young, Homerville, Georgia; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Services for Mr. Young will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at eleven o’clock at Homerville First Baptist Church. Reverend Jerry Baldree and Reverend Austin Deloach, Jr. will be officiating. Interment will be in the Ramah Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his great-grandsons: Brian Herrin, Heath Herrin, Caleb Herrin, Brandon Herrin, Kaine Harris and Clint Vinson. The family will receive friends Monday, October 31, 2011 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Young will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
