Homerville, GA Mrs. Thelma Griffis Williams Maxwell, 83, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, in the Clinch HealthCare Center, following an extended illness. Mrs. Maxwell was born December 27, 1927, in Clinch County to the late Arthur Griffis & Estella Highsmith Griffis. She was a member of the Homerville United Methodist Church, Clinch Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies and the Eastern Star. She was a retired secretary for the Clinch Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Buster Martin Williams, one daughter, Penny Williams Henderson, three brothers: J. T. Griffis, Jack Griffis and Elroy Griffis; three sisters: Rheuna Griffis, Inez Bennett & Mae Booth. Survivors are her husband: William V. “Bill” Maxwell, Homerville; one daughter & son-in-law: Bonny & Henry Moylan, Homerville; one son-in-law & wife: Richard & Lori Henderson, Waycross; two stepdaughters & husbands: Janet & Bruce Ballard, Lilburn, GA and Laura & Hugh Veal, Charleston, SC; one stepson & wife: Rev. Chris & Debbie Maxwell, Royston, GA; three grandsons & wives: Clay & Sharonna Moylan, Homerville, Truman & Amanda Henderson, Bainbridge, GA and Britt Henderson, Waycross; one granddaughter: Heidi Moylan, Valdosta; three great grandchildren: Trey Henderson & Noah Henderson, Bainbridge and Aiden Moylan, Homerville; one great granddaughter: Vanessa Moylan, Homerville; eight step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Rubye G. Sims, Waycross & Lunette G. & Verlin Ritch, Homerville; one brother & sister-in-law: George Owen & Sarah Griffis, Homerville; and several other relatives. Services for Mrs. Maxwell will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at eleven o’clock from the Homerville United Methodist Church. Internment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Roundtree Funeral Home. Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
