Jack Delos “J. D.” O’Quinn October 15, 1921 – July 11, 2011 Homerville, GA Mr. Jack Delos “J. D.” O’Quinn, 89, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at Clinch Memorial Hospital. Mr. O’Quinn was born October 15, 1921 in Lowndes County to the late Hardy Edmond O’Quinn and Effie Louise Taylor O’Quinn. He was a member of the Homerville First Baptist Church and attended the DuPont Baptist Church. He worked 15 years for the Clinch County News then went to work for the United Postal Service and retired as postmaster of Mansfield, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the 357th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force as a staff sergeant and fought in the Battle of Bulge from Dec. 16, 1944 thru Jan. 25, 1945. He was a Mason & Shriner, was an avid golfer, liked hunting and fishing and transporting of children to Shriners Children’s Hospital. He was very active in the community having served on several boards, like the Hospital and Voter Registration Boards. He was preceded in death by one sister: Lorene Strickland. Survivors are his wife: Muriel Zeigler O’Quinn, Homerville; one daughter: Gwen O. Davis, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law: Edwin & Carolyn O’Quinn, Homerville; three grandchildren: Greg & Christie Davis, David O’Quinn and Daniel & Nora O’Quinn; five great grandchildren: Molly Davis, Maggie Davis, Jack O’Quinn, Bradley O’Quinn, and Penelope O’Quinn: several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services for Mr. O’Quinn will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at eleven o’clock from the DuPont Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Wayfare Church Cemetery, Statenville, GA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 13, 2011, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home, Mr. O’Quinn will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
