David “Ira” Steedley July 10, 1924 - July 9, 2011 Argyle, GA Mr. David Ira Steedley, 86, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Steedley was born July 10, 1924 in Clinch County to the late David Ford “Dave” Steedley and Nancy Lucinda Roland Steedley. Mr. Steedley was a retired carpenter and a veteran of the U. S. Army. He attended the New Prospect Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sara Bell Cason; four brothers: Henry Steedley, Oscar Steedley, Frank Steedley and Little Carey Steedley. Survivors are his wife of 62 years: Betty Singleton Steedley, Argyle; four daughters and son-in-law: Pam Bennett, Oklahoma City, OK, Sara & Steve Lott, Douglas, GA, Robin Culpepper, Argyle, GA and Lynn Bell, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law: David Ira “June Bug” & Vickey Steedley, Homerville; 11 grandchildren: Iris Steedley Vaughn, Little Ira Steedley, John Steedley, Carey Joyner, Jason Bennett, Amy Rogers, David Inman, Scott Inman, Brandy Clement, Henry Steedley and James (Boo) Steedley, 29 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several other relatives. Services for Mr. Steedley will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 3 pm from the New Prospect Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Manor. The family will receive friends Monday, July 11, 2011, from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Steedley will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
