James Everal Chauncey

Mr. Everal Chauncey, 91, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at Clinch Healthcare Center in Homerville, Ga. Mr. Chauncey was born February 16, 1919 in Homerville to the late Hamp Chauncey and Nettie Young Chauncey. He was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during World War II, as a Staff Sergeant. He also, owned and operated Chauncey’s Food Market for 33 years and retired in 1988 having never worked for anyone except for himself. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing in Florida for ten years. He was preceded in death by one son, Clifton “Juke” Davis, five brothers, one sister. Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Zelma Ree Chauncey of Homerville, two sons and daughter-in-laws, Rev. Keith and Patsy Chauncey and Jerry and Melinda Davis of Homerville, GA; six grandchildren, Paul Chauncey, Damon and Teresa Chauncey of Homerville, GA Jason and Mirella Davis Lemon Grove, CA. Emily and Roy Mohr of Princeton, TX., and Cale Davis of Homerville; six great grand children, Grace and Callie Chauncey, Molly and Maggie Davis, Aliyah Davis, and Emma Mohr; and several nieces , nephews, and other relatives. Services for Mr. Chauncey will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church in Homerville. Internment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 at funeral home. Mr. Chauncey will be carried to church one hour prior to service.
